Celebrity Traitors Star Ruth Codd Recovering After Second Leg Amputation

Irish actress and Celebrity Traitors participant Ruth Codd is recovering following a second below-the-knee amputation, the performer revealed on TikTok. She shared that she is currently staying with her family after the surgery.

Codd, 29, first underwent a leg amputation at age 23 due to a football injury sustained in her teens, which caused eight years of pain and complications. Discussing her recent operation, she wrote, “Good news, we’ve had a full-circle moment. I’m back making TikTok content in my parents’ house. Bad news, I can’t do it upstairs, because I’ve just had my second below-knee amputation. There’s a lot to unpack for everyone involved.”

Before gaining fame on reality TV, Codd built a following on TikTok and made her television debut in Netflix’s horror series The Midnight Club. On Celebrity Traitors, she was known for correctly suspecting fellow contestant Jonathan Ross before her on-screen death.

Codd had previously addressed her plans for the second amputation in a YouTube interview with FFTV, explaining that her crutch usage had caused ongoing issues. “With the second one, it was just the same situation. My quality of life, it’s never going to get any better from this point,” she said.

Earlier in 2025, Codd appeared in the live-action remake of How To Train Your Dragon, portraying Phlegma the Fierce, a Viking warrior with a limb difference. Reflecting on the role, she said she was proud to play a “strong, capable” character despite her health challenges.

Despite recent health hurdles, Codd remains optimistic. “The amount of health problems I’ve had the last year haven’t stopped me doing anything,” she said. “I’ve been through it once before, so I think with two prosthetics, I’ll be pretty unstoppable.”
