Barcelona’s Iconic Sagrada Família Becomes the World’s Tallest Church
Barcelona’s legendary Sagrada Família has officially claimed the title of the world’s tallest church after construction workers installed the first section of a cross atop its central tower.
Standing now at an impressive 162.91 metres, the basilica surpasses Germany’s Ulm Minster, which held the record since 1890. The monumental structure, designed by visionary architect Antoni Gaudí, has been under construction for over 140 years and is expected to be completed next year.
The central Tower of Jesus Christ, which will soon reach 172 metres once the cross is fully assembled, represents the pinnacle of Gaudí’s architectural genius and devotion.
