Vivo is gearing up to launch its new S50 series in China this December, succeeding the Vivo S30 lineup. The series is expected to include the Vivo S50 Pro Mini and the standard Vivo S50. Ahead of the official launch, a Vivo executive has shared images and confirmed key specifications of the upcoming smartphones.
Vivo S50 Series Design Details
Vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao revealed an image of one of the S50 series devices on Weibo. The phone, shown in a golden colour variant, features a sleek design with two antenna bands on the right side, along with the power button and volume controls. The handset will have an “all-aerospace-grade aluminium frame,” crafted using a “new satin lithography process.”
Tipster Digital Chat Station also shared a render hinting at a triple rear camera setup housed inside a squircle-shaped module at the top-left corner of the back panel.
Camera Features and Specifications
The Vivo S50 Pro Mini, codenamed ‘Battle Angel,’ will feature a Sony IMX882 1/1.95-inch periscope telephoto sensor capable of 50-megapixel shots. The camera is expected to support a “clear and natural portrait algorithm” similar to flagship Vivo devices. Reports also suggest a 50-megapixel main camera with a Sony LYT700V 1/1.56-inch sensor and optical image stabilization (OIS).
Performance and Hardware
The S50 Pro Mini will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, recently launched on November 26. Early benchmarks indicate the device may score around 3 million points on AnTuTu. The phone will come with LPDDR5x RAM supporting speeds up to 9,600Mbps, and UFS 4.1 storage for faster read/write performance.
With its combination of premium design, flagship-level camera features, and top-tier performance, the Vivo S50 series is shaping up to be a strong contender in the mid-to-high-end smartphone segment.
